Philosophy

Mui's philosophy in teaching and in practicing architecture has evolved somewhat through the years, partly due to changes in the society and partly due to her own growth as a teacher. Thus her involvement with community influences her practice, her research informs her teaching, her teaching helps to shape her commitment to the community. All these aspects of her work feed into each other and gives her work depth and dimension. However, balancing between these three aspects - teaching, practicing and research has been challenging but rewarding.

Community Service

Beyond working with non-profit organizations and local communities, Mui Ho has been very active with women in the profession in the design fields. Along with a friend, Mui established the Organization of Women Architects in 1973. Thanks to continued interest by younger members and a continuing effort of older members like herself, this organization is thriving and provides a wide range of support services as well as a network of contacts for its members.
