In Association with HGT Architects
Sparksway Commons was the first affordable housing project in the US to be developed specifically for single parents with children. The primary concept of the design was to create a “home within a community†for a total of 45 units. Through interviews with single parents and community meetings, the expressed preference for their homes was to be non-apartment like in nature and was to include the amenities of a single family homes. All of these 45 houses are sited on the sloping portion of the site to leave a sizable large flat area for recreation like softball diamond and play structures.
