For fear of encouraging loose morals, Peizheng College's administration was initially skeptical of Mui Ho's proposal to construct student apartment buildings in the new college town, in addition to the more standard dormitories. Prior to this construction, there were no student apartments in any university in China. However, Mui Ho viewed the student apartments as an opportunity to provide students with real-life living experiences, allowing them insight into co-living with other individuals while still in college.

When the student apartment buildings were completed, they were overwhelmingly popular among students. Students enjoyed the home-like space and the newfound feeling of freedom. Since then, the college has built more student apartments than dormitories to match student demand.
