Mui Ho started her architectural office in 1979. Her practice has remained small to allow her to combine an architectural practice with teaching at the University of California , Berkeley.

Her research and interest in vernacular architecture reflects her conviction that architecture, as a part of culture, must relate to its time , its place and its people. Starting in the late seventies, Mui Ho has been making yearly visits to China to continue her research. With her research material she created a seminar a seminar Arch 279, Vernacular Architecture of China, which was offered every three years as part of the architectural history electives at UC Berkeley.
